CNG are a Harrogate based, forward thinking energy company – originally providing natural gas, but now also electricity.

Their development department ran using a mixture of waterfall and Agile (Scrum) teams – older projects were stuck in more traditional linear approaches, whilst new ‘green field’ projects were being successfully delivered using Agile. Unlike many organisations, CNG had buy in for a full Agile roll out from senior management downwards, but were having real difficulties getting their teams on board. We designed a bespoke Agile training workshop to be delivered to 50 members of their business, in two sittings. This included main board members mixed in with team members from all levels of the organisation. The focus of the workshop was an introduction to the values of Agile, the structure of Scrum, but more importantly how to map real world roles alongside Scrum.

After the success of these sessions, they achieved full buy in from the whole business with minimal conflict. At the time, the senior managers of CNG noted that it would be really useful to meet businesses who were further along the Agile journey than they were. We offered to go out to our network to see what we could do.

A month later, we delivered a ‘facilitated networking session’, in a bar space in central Leeds with food provided. CNG brought ten members of their team, and we provided an informal panel made up of six BAs and senior Agile team members and trainers from Lloyds Bank, Yorkshire Building Society and Leeds Building Society.
